Glorious Redeemer
I've been listening to the song 'Glorious Redeemer' these past few days.. and yeah i must say dat the drums for this song sounded pretty challenging the first few times i heard it.
There were quite a number of complicated sounding rolls which i couldnt quite catch at the beginning because they involved some 32 beat notes and stuff and the syncopation of those beats were quite a challenge, but thank God for the answer, cos i soon got it after repeating those parts over and over again..
The thing about drums is dat.. it's not very difficult actually after you've listened to so many different kinds of music. But wat you need to know is the basic elements dat make up a drum roll or a a drum groove. You needa be pretty familiar with counting out the different subdivisions of the rhythm, and you need a good ear to pick out the roll, which beat it begins on and where it ends and how it is played.. if u can form it in ur mind, u can roll it out on the drumset~ so you needa sorta conceive it in ur mind first.
I believe the same is true with other kinds of music.. you first gotta know wat to improvise before u go about doing a solo or something.. And i thank God for giving me a mind dat can decifer some pretty tough drum rolls and fill-ins.
I've kinda realised also dat i'm indeed a very drum kinda person.. in the sense dat i feel very comfortable on drums.. though i know dat there is still much room for ideas and improvement and i dun know all there is to drums, but i'm still comfortable on it~ But wat's impt is dat this gift has gotta be used for the glory of God for it to achieve it's full intended purpose~ And yeah dat's exactly wat i intend for it to be. After this Arise & Build campaign is over, i will start taking my lessons in drums.. havent found a teacher yet but i think i know who to approach :D And as for saxophone, same goes for it as well~
Anyway, i committed this to the Lord this night while i was in His presence~ Yeah, wow it was good heh :D i'm looking forward to every daily encounter with Him :D tmrw's gonna be a real good one :D
