~First Sound~

Today's date is the 15th of June which also happens to be Fathers' Day~ Happy Fathers' Day to all the dads out there~

More than dat though, today is an eXtra eXtra special day for me.

I went down to swee lee music store today in the afternoon to try out sax mouthpieces~ got a lot of new insight from the lady who served me~ i tired out the Selmer C* mouthpiece i didnt get a mouthpiece though because i reconsidered gettin a selmer II series alto sax instead FIRST. and the sax would come naturally with a Selmer C* mouthpiece so i didnt wanna waste a couple of hundred bucks. however, i had to spend some $ on a mouthpiece patch to try out the mouthpieces so dat i wouldnt scratch the surface.

First attempt at the mouthpiece was with the reed dat came together with the mouthpiece. and boy i blew and blew but all dat came out of the other end of the mouthpiece was hot air and more hot air. then i figured out dat the reed was too hard. it was an ungraded reed though which was why i cudnt tell its strength. anyway, dat's when i got it replaced and tried the Vandoren V16 reed, strength 2 - an american jazz type reed. Apparently, that reed was a lot softer and easier to play on and one of my fav saxophonists endorses it too~

Anyway to cut the chase, after experimenting with the amount of mouthpiece i put in my mouth, i finally got a SOUND out of it! dat was fantastic man! and i thought the sax and i werent meant to be but hey! i freakin produced a freakin sound! Therefore i'm markin the 15th of June 2003 as a very significant date - the date where i first produced a sound on a sax mouthpiece~
