Failure Is NOT An Option!
This afternoon, i went to Bunka to take my placement test. It was a level 2 Intermediate test.
MAN... it was not as easy as i thought..
Nonetheless, i am determined to ace it. I answered every single question to the best of my ability EXCEPT one which stumped me. It was a question testing my translation ability.
The question was: "If you do not study well, you will fail the exam."
WOW... wat a killjoy.. I think any fella who is struggling thru the paper will just give up at the sight of this question...
ANYWAY, yeah i only managed to translate half of it.. cos i just could not figure out wat in the world was the japanese word for 'fail'.
So later on after i got home, i immediately typed it out on Microsoft Word and checked out the dictionary.. I came across this word - 失敗 (pronounced 'shippai').
And IMMEDIATELY i kicked myself on the butt because it was just days ago when i came across this word...
And dat's wat irked me, cos it was a question which i should have gotten correct! I'd gotten all the grammar and sentence structure down pat, but just because of one word... grrr....
So the correct translation would be as such:
"If you do not study well, you will fail the exam."
よく勉強しなければ試験 /を 失敗します。/が 不合格に成ります。 OR
よく勉強しないと試験 /を 失敗します。/が 不合格に成ります。
Yoku benkyou shinakereba shiken /wo shippai shimasu/ga fugoukaku ni narimasu. OR
Yoku benkyou shinai to shiken /wo shippai shimasu/ga fugoukaku ni narimasu.
Well.. Nvm la.. I will just do even better next time~ :)
And today another thing surprised me. I went to study with my korean class classmates. By the way, i stopped Korean for a year because of time and schedule conflicts. But i'll be revising and self studying.
Anyway, one of my classmates, aunty elyn, was telling me dat their new class had 2 new students. While we were then in Elementary 2 class, they were in E 3 class, but stopped for a semester after dat because of sch exam preparations. So, this new semester, they joined my frens in the new Intermediate level 1 class.
These 2 girls were asking aunty elyn, 'we heard about this student in your batch who scored 99 marks consecutively etc etc, where is he now?'
And when i heard dat i was like WAH.. how did they know about dat?! I mean, i have seen them around the sch a few times but dun know them personally.. And adeline remarked, 'wah your name is famous all over!'
I am humbled la.. Dat should be the way honestly :) Excellence in your own marketplace :) Head and not the tail :) Praise the Lord!
Well, i hope dat the same will be in my Japanese class :) I'm giving nothing but the best! Ganbare! Hwaiting!
