Anointed Excellence?

Hmm.. i am reminded by a blog entry i read about a guy called KC on myspace.com who wrote about musical anointing and skills on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 under the title Harsh but real.

Hmm.. anointing and skills.. anointing and skills.. which is more impt? i quote him:
Really, I think these 2 components are mutually exclusive and very important.
Saying "anointing" is more important than "skill" is like saying "spirit" is more important than "brains". Why did God give us brains then if spirit is all we need?

Both are indispensible to the "christian" musician who talks about anointed excellence in music. You cant have ANOINTED EXCELLENCE without either skills or the anointing of God.

Remember that God has given us seed/s of potential within, dat must be cultivated, nurtured and developed into full grown trees dat never stop growing :)

Dat is skill which a musician must have. You may ask so wat if you've got the skills? OH man.. the effects of dat ARE TREMENDOUS :) For starters.. no ppl out there in the world give two hoots whether or not u're the MOST excellently anointed musician there is in the world.. because they DON'T KNOW and they cant RELATE to it :) Wat to them is good is SKILL :) And dat is why we need skills as musicians and for a very very simple and utterly most impt reason why, is to bear testimony of excellence. Without skill, nobody looks at u a 2nd time :)

The more skillful u are as a musician, the more respect u command, the more ppl take note of u. And the principle behind this is very simple. Just look at Daniel, he was every part the Babylonian (dat is like having excellent skill) BUT nobody knew he relied on a greater power from above who is God almighty who was working greatly in his life (dat is the anointing which comes from above, working silently in the life of the anointed one.)

Would Daniel have gained so much respect and trust from the king if he wasnt 'skillful'? i doubt so. On the contrary, i feel it was this 'skill' which opened doors for him and therein, the anointing of the Lord worked in his life and brought about tremendous impact for the jews during his days.

This is my take on this, Anointed Excellence in terms of a musician, is to be the utmost skillful musician after the heart of God. Simple definition~ A musician who constantly improves himself in his skill (and this takes eternity), and whose heart seeks after God all the days of his life, whose destiny moves in line with God's will for him. Dat musician will become a musician of anointed excellence.

So, so wat if you've got all the skills? (but the answer to dat is you will never have all of it) so wat if you've got all the anointing? (the answer to dat is also as above) The question should be, 'ok, i've got this and this, God, NOW WAT?' This is the spirit of thirst and hunger. The spirit of never enough. Same thing with our lives, the moment we think we have it all as a musician, we have backslided as a musician. The moment we think we can go autopilot (bro benson's term), dat's it. We have lost it all..

It is the constant pursuit of spiritual and musical excellence dat will make a musician one with anointed excellence. So musos, how much anointed excellence do you carry? When ppl see you or talk with you, do they appreciate, respect you just because u're a musician or do they appreciate, respect you just because you're a nice person? Or do they appreciate and respect you because they've never known any other musician who can play the (insert ur instrument here) as well as you can and yet in person, ur human (not ox, eagle or lion) face is wat they see?

The following i took from a blog and changed some to suit my instrument or wat others dat relate to me:

-------------------------------------
How do i play in such a way that each note i hit means something. - This is purposeful playing. (tick)
How do i learn a song so well that it is beating with my heartbeat. - This is internalising. (tick)
How do i choose the sound to use which makes the music better. - This is SOUND decision. (tick)
How do i sing the melodies of tunes in my heart and head. - This is utterance of the fingers. (tick)
How do i worship God with the fingers of my heart and soul. - This is when God takes over. (tick)
How do i flow with the worship leader without being bothered about the groove and rhythm. - This is experience. (tick)
How do i go up another level of musicality. - This is experience and exposure. (tick)
How do i tastefully apply what i've all learnt. - This is PRACTICE. (tick)
How do i speak with what i cannot describe. - This is spirit behind the rhythms played.
How do i paint a picture of moods. - This is the dynamics and sound palatte explored.
How do i hold the atmosphere with what i do not know. - This is technicality.
How do i play with anointed excellence that describes a good musician. - With everything of me.
----------------------------------------------

Now, after all of dat, my question is.. Wat next? Wat next God? Where do i go from here? Take me along..... :)

At the end of it all, like wat bro benson told me, obedience to God is wat matters more than anything else.. so wat if you've got skills? So wat if you've got anointing? So wat if you know when? So wat if u know how? Hahahaha.. If God tells u to do something and you obey, He will certainly give you the means to do it excellently, and He will anoint dat excellence :)

And God told me... Dat's just the TIP of the iceberg *winks* ;)

And the verse He put into my mind is 1 Cor 2:9 -

But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Hahaha! God i love You!
