DVD Authoring

The class is gonna be over soon. i must say that we did a pretty good job in just one day~ completed the title and animation menu designs, and everything in scenarists is all set and done and just waiting for a check once through before being certified clear for burning~ after dat~ dvd is over and done with :) it actually is pretty fun to use scenarist i must say~ i learnt alot more doing the thing today than all the past weeks put together~

The Most Punctual Thing On This Planet

Yes, dat's my quartz metronome which i havent been using for god knows how long till today. Right now, instead of mastering all 36 scales, i've got to play them to 120 beats per minute (bpm). dat's like marching speed. and it is damn difficult to play in time with the metronome, it's gonna take a hell lot of practise for me to fully achieve the basic kinda standard dat is required. at least, it's a really effective way to see which scales u are more weaker in and practise those, increasing the speed each time~ it's so much easier when u increase the speed gradually then when u do a huge leap? it's very much a psychological and also a muscle memory kinda thing, you muscles get comfortable and the increase in speed is so minute you cant even feel it and in no time, the fingers will be ripping the scales to shreds! dat's how u develop technique anyway~ it's amazing how ppl learn, by repetition and all~ and dat's how u form good or bad habits, the latter more often than not!

Gosh, i'm having alot alot of work to do.. really crunch time. i just hope dat i can achieve 120bps or more for all 36 scales and i get do them with confidence and not falter. dat's the next immediate goal by year end. I dun make new year resolutions, but yea i'll make this goal my year end resolution~

Everyday is a new day to look forward to. new improvement, new results, new things to focus on~ i dun get sick of my life~ at least, i've got lots to look forward to~ now, the metronome dictates my time and my life.. well.. literally and practically~

Sick Sick Everyone's Fallin Sick

Flu, throat infections and wat not.. everybody is fallin sick. This is a sick world. man, even my dear technician isnt spared from it. Initially thought i could finally bring the sax to him today after i was done with the lesson but then learned he was on mc and wun be back till wed.. damn.. and so i had to push thurs lesson to sat and dat is still not confirmed. but by hook or by crook, i needa have it serviced on wed cos the next time he's free will be like end of the freakin month?! i cant afford to wait dat long, i've waited too damn long for a leakless sax already. it is crucial to my practise because i'd be unnecessarily wasting time gettin the horn to sound the notes and my focus will be affected. cant let dat happen. and the lig is also arriving soon. give me some maj min scales to chew man.. i'll devour them

if u watch orchestras and you always wonder how those guys can play the notes with such confidence, dat's because it's all about the scales man. A large part of classical training is getting the student to drill over and over and over again scale after scale after scale after scale. Hours are spent, sometimes in an academic day of like 8-10 hours just doing scales and these guys continue on even after sch.. How grossly borin some ppl might think it to be, but dat's just the way it is. Can't master ur scales, you cant play music~

it's a lifetime developing thing i say. just gotta learn to love it i believe~ it's the very fundamentals of solid grounding in technique. after much time well spent and all, it's no prob hitting these guys at like 200+ bpm~

cant wait for the holidays~ but i dunno whether i'll have enough stamina to practise for 5-8 hours a day or more. Dat is honestly crazy because it's so freakin difficult to maintain focus after like 1 hour. 2 hours and it's like hell i wanna give up dat kinda thing. it's a lot of stamina, mental and physical. more so mental i would say. concentration and focus, it's all in the mind~ i better draw up a practise chart soon~ gotta fully utilise every single hour. long tones, etudes, scales with metronome and wat not.. this is gonna be interesting. perhaps i should keep a daily journal on wat i encounter durin practise and wat's been buggin me~
