On My Way There

Wat a helluva day. lots happened today~ besides the heavy rain, and the feelin dat i'm fallin sick, the day has been a great one. Made a whole new discovery today dat has dramatically improved my tone and has helped etch me closer to the ideal sound dat i am searching~ previously my tone was pretty 1 dimensional bright but very dead sounding. Now, not only is it bright, but it is full and spread out. It's amazing how the sound is loud enough to fill a whole house and the bottom end of the tone is there to give the sound support and fullness yet still maintainin the edge to it. all these thanks to the genius himself Mr Teo Boon Chye.

He's just a guy who's got full of integrity and he'd share with me all these small little things dat actually give big results. Others would be selfish to keep it to themselves but not he. I'm very very lucky to have him as my instructor because he brings a wealth and i mean a great wealth of experience and experiment. He's ever improving his tone and playing abilities.

Today, i was damn stunned to see his resume. His experiences include jamming with great names such as the band Toto and their drummer Simon Philips, and lots more regional and international. Amazing stuff!

At this point of time, i'm convinced dat i'm sick. i'm sneezin my guts out and my head's sort of in the air~ yeah damn high~ anyway, after lesson, we proceeded to Accent music where we tried some Rovner ligatures and finally settled for the Mark III C1RVS Soprano Hard Rubber Ligature. the arrival of the new ligature will take about 2 weeks. i cant wait for it man, then i can have my sax adjusted in time to play together with the new ligature! happening man~ my tone has improved by a leap i swear! it's a bright, full-bodied tone with lots of layers of undertones and overtones dat really make the sound coming out from the bell awesome~ i'm absolutely astonished at the way a slight adjustment can do to improve the tone of a saxophone. AMAZING is the word i swear.

Also, it could be very well my first stab into the saxophone working world if things go as planned with Boon Chye. Hopefully, i can assist him when he conducts saxophone clinics to schs and such. Dat is gonna be really exciting stuff. Man, if dat happens, it's gonna be a great experience i swear!
