Deciphering The Mushanga Code

MAN!!! I CAN'T SLEEP LAH I TELL U!!

You know wat, something's been going thru my mind...

Something bout the Indon svc.. a praise song.. Yeah a praise song with latin arrangement~

And Jeff Porcaro's Mushanga groove has been running thru my head!! It's something i know i can do for dat song! WHOA! Hmm...

The latin beat part can use some serious mushanga groove la!!

Ok let me try to explain.. BASICALLY okk..

BASICALLY, the mushanga beat is something like this:

1ena 2ena 3ena 4ena
RLRL RLRR LLRL RRLL

To break it down further, it would look like this:

1ena 2ena3e na4ena
RLRL RLRRLL RLRRLL

See the 2 paradiddle-diddles?

Now, the bass drum plays a constant 1/4 note pulse all the way. Accents are on the beats of 1, 'a' of 1, 'e' of 2, 3, 'a' of 3, 'n' of 4 and 'a' of 4. If you noticed, ALL the accents except the FIRST beat are on the LEFT hand :) So dat makes things REAALLY EASY :P Try playing it on the hi-hat to get a feel of it :D

Now, the next part of the challenge is laying the rhythm all over the drums and.... well dat's the tricky part and at this time of the morning, i dun have enough brain juice to go into detail... SO, yeah it's up to you to find out the rest... :) Have fun!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okie, well i will write the groove down in notation.. here it is..

Yeah enjoy! :D
