To Forgive And Forget
Forgiveness and Humility go hand in hand. The act of forgiving is kinda difficult
when you REALLY mean it :) It is truly as difficult to do as humbling oneself,
simply becos yet again, the issue of PRIDE is being addressed here.
As evidenced around the world today, many nations are at war with each other, and
for some, it's been years upon years of conflict, some even centuries or milleniums!
Coming home a little closer, we have our everyday fights with ppl around us,
arguments and disagreements or basically anything that ppl do to each other that
hurts each other.
Now in a conflict, no one would wanna back off simply becos it hurts the PRIDE, it is
like saying, oh i'm a weakling, i'm a coward, i'm chicken. Yeah, dat is wat many
of us have been brought up to believe. Dat is why ppl are selfish, and dat is why
ppl refuse to forgive those who did them wrong. Or perhaps it's forgiving but in
actual fact, there still harbours resentment.
It's scientifically proven by medical doctors dat when you are angry with someone,
it affects your health. Frequent bouts of anger and you could put your life in
danger. How? Well, anger leads to hatred and these involve powerful emotions. It is
a known fact that anger has led to murder, in contemporary times today but not only
dat, it is evidenced in the Bible when the first murder took place - Yes, Cain
killing his own brother Abel. The very first instance of murder of the human race.
Anger is bad for the health period. Anger can come and go quickly. Wat's dangerous,
is when anger REMAINS within you :) Now dat is especially really bad for the health.
It stresses you up. It agitates you. It causes you to act rashly. It basically
UNSTABLES your life. Why is it dat ppl who bear grudges are unhappy? The answer
is simple. That is becos, the person is dealing with an emotional issue which he
or she has not settled in their life, so therefore, there bears a grudge, a resentment.
Wat causes us to bear grudges and resent others? Simple answer yet again. We refuse
to forgive others from our heart, from the bad things they might have said or done
to us. The following are some of wat the Bible has to say about forgiveness:
These are Jesus's exact words as written in the New King James Bible.
Luke 6: 27-29, 35-37
v27 "But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
v28 "bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.
v29 "To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him
who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either.
v35 "But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and
your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to
the unthankful and evil.
v36 "Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.
v37 "Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be
condemned. Forgive, and you shall be forgiven.
Forgiveness is the key to releasing the hatred and anger within oneself. It is the
key to freedom within the heart. When you go to someone and forgive that person, or
go to a person to seek forgiveness, there is a power in dat action! Forgiveness is
a very powerful tool dat releases burden and guilt. When one truly forgives or
receives forgiveness, it does not only benefit one person alone. Forgiveness benefits
both the one who gives it, and the one who receives it. In forgiveness, there is
reconciliation.
v35 and v27 says love your enemies :) v29 says if someone give u a slap or punch
across one side of your face, turn your other side and let him/her do the same!
The last part is the most impt, forgive and you WILL be forgiven. If ppl do not
forgive you when you sincerely ask of them to forgive, NEVERMIND :) Why? Becos,
obtaining forgiveness from the Lord is wat is more important! The bible says dat
if you DO NOT forgive those who trespass against you, then your Heavenly Father God
WILL NOT forgive your trespasses as well!
So, if you read this and you know dat you are bearing grudges against a particular
person or persons, BETTER approach them and ask for forgiveness sincerely. When you
do so, and you are forgiven, praise God because there is reconciliation! But if the
person does not forgive you.. NEVERMIND! The ball is not in your court anymore! If
you have sincerely asked for forgiveness from those who hurt you, but have received
none, then really, IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! It is GOD'S BUSINESS NOW :D So you
dun have to bother anymore :D
So, seek forgiveness today and be released from your pent up frustration and anger!
Do not return eye for an eye for God says dat VENGEANCE IS MINE. I WILL REPAY!
Hallelujah~ I take comfort in dat promise of God :) So, i encourage us to forgive
and forget. Proverbs 26:10 says this:
"The great God who formed everything gives the fool his hire and the transgressor
his wages."
Wat does the word 'wages' here means? It means the result of transgression, which is
death. Romans 6:23 - 'For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus our Lord.'
Hallelujah! So, let us take heed and not be the stupid fool in Proverbs 26:10
who does not forgive, but let us humble ourselves and forgive those who trespass
against us :)
