Oh Yeah?? BITE ME!
No thanks to the ingenuity of my dearest sax instructor, i've yet learnt a totally new way of biting the mouthpiece, thereby producing a tone dat is a far cry from my previous tones~
This new method of biting has actually been used by many famous saxophonists like David Sanborn, Nelson Rangell etc. If you observe the way the saxophone is positioned in their hands and mouth, you can find sumthin quite weird in the posture and position. Many people would dismiss this as the 'wrong way', but it is doubtless dat this way produces the best tone :D
The merits of this new way of biting actually cause the tone to become bigger by expanding the harmonic range of the tone. Alot more harmonics (underlayers) are produced when the mouthpiece is bit this way. Also because of the way dat pressure is displaced and positioned on the reed, the reed is easy to play and very responsive. it's truly the best of both worlds - a great tone and ease of play~
Alright, enough~ Practice time!!
