The Problem They Call Saxophone
So many things happened to my sax these past few days. Received my Francois Louis ligature
and am very satisfied with it. Just a few days ago, i bought myself a new mouthpiece again..
got a Vandoren A35 Jumbo Java. It's much warmer as compared to the hard rubber Lebayle
which i've been using all these while.
Apparently, the Lebayle warped a little, the table area where the reed rests upon. So anyway,
yeah the crucial part of the mouthpiece got slightly damaged but that was enough to render
the mouthpiece unplayable. The metal Lebayle which i dropped previously was worse off of
course. Dat mouthpiece was totally gone..
Anyway, just earlier, i got the neck recorked at Accent. Boon Chye was there also fixing the F#
key problem on his sax. Danny really did a fantastic job out of it. He's good lah~ Anyway, the
previous corksheet had a groove, quite a large one which was directly at the entry point of the
mouthpiece. So because of dat, there was quite a bit of resistance. After recorking, wow, the
resistance just dropped~ Pretty amazing. I was very satisfied and thankful to Cindy who did a
job well done!
Still however, the sax isnt at all 100% proper. The saxophone has never been a perfect
instrument at all. There are SO MANY variables to it that it's gonna take quite a long time
before everything can be sorted out. Anyway, just discovered dat the high E rod was
pressing against the catch and so was killing the response and tone. And the Front F key
also.. gonna fix dat in the next lesson... Anyway, yeah now reeds are giving me problem..
Sianz...
