Big Band Jazz
I've been thinking of it alot and well, i'm very very interested in joining the Thomson Jazz Club.
It's the oldest and most established jazz band in Singapore and they are really good. Having
performed at many jazz festivals etc. They've also cut a CD and are in the midst of producing
another record.
I've been thinking of finding avenues where i can really learn and play jazz at the same time.
TJC has members of all walks of life, expats, retirees, students, professionals etc etc. It's a
real diverse community not only in terms of occupation but also race as well~
I believe jazz is set to become much more popular than before. It's only a matter of time where
the jazz bug will really bite loads of people. Already, it's beginning to happen. I'm gonna make
enquiries about it soon and well hopefully, they will accept an amatuer like myself with not
much of music background and all. I doubt they'll put me up for performance any time soon but
i'm willing to learn watever it takes to play and all. Hopefully, TJC becomes as hugue as the SSO
and all. TJC will be like the arm of jazz in Singapore and i really believe that jazz has the potential
to make it big in S'pore.
Look at people like Jeremy Monteiro, Jacinta, Clarissa Monteiro etc.. These people can make it big
and speakin of big, i'm happy for Boon Chye and his plans. He can get loads of exposure :)
