Going Back To My First Love - 日本語

I kinda had some free time today.. Hahaa! So yeah, during dat bulk of free time, i decided to experiment a little.. and lo and behold! I found out how to type japanese on my comp!

Actually it's so easy, i just have to input the language into the language bar, and then type away just like i am typing romanized japanese and the words will just form up by themselves.

So i can type in Hiragana and Katakana with no problems at all watsoever :D Hahah!

Well, then later on i went to check out some grammar and verb conjugations :) And wow, i never realised dat japanese use no future tense in their language! Amazing~ they use the present tense to describe both present and future tenses, so yeah dat was surprising.. i never knew dat~ haha!

Anyway, i was like 15 years old when i first learnt japanese :) learnt for bout 1 1/2 years i reckoned..? Yea after dat i stopped, cos in polytechnic i had no time to continue.. AND DAT WAS A PITY... Man, really wasted cos right now i've kinda forgotten most of wat i had learnt in elementary and intermediate levels. I even took JLPT 3 which is the 3rd level of Japanese Language Proficiency Test.

Well, one reason i stopped was because i had no time.. But another more apt reason why i stopped was because at dat one point in my life, i was struggling with a lot of questions about the language.. questions pertaining to grammar and verb conjugation etc etc.. in fact i was thinking SO MUCH, i really just messed up and confused myself to an extent dat it made me realise dat it was just an impossible task mastering the language..

And i gave myself excuses like.. Oh.. TOO MUCH KANJI to absorb! Yeah dat kinda nonsense.. So yeah in essence, i gave up learning..

But then, right now i find dat as i have grown over the years.. my approach to learning language has become alot different. I am alot more systematic, i am alot more focused and logical in the way i approach the language and i am more wise when it comes to understanding stuff like grammar and verb conjugation.

So right now, it's like deja vu to me :) i am experiencing the very instance where i first started my love affair with languages, and that was when i was first exposed to japanese culture and language~

Having gone through a year or so of self study in korean and now almost 5 months of formal korean language studies, i realised dat the reason why i could pick up korean grammar so fast was really my background in the japanese language. The grammar is so similar dat i had no problems relating to the korean language because i could identify most of it with a japanese equivalent :)

And, i realised dat many korean grammatical structures, words and wat not which i then could not understand, i came to learn and understand through having studied japanese! So learning japanese in a sense, sort of enforced wat little i knew about the korean language then. Right now, i can safely say dat i know quite a bit of advance level korean grammar!

The amazing part is, NOW, i find myself understanding japanese once again through my experiences studying korean! I mean, it's like a vice versa thing rite? It's like the 'help us to help you' kinda principle.. get it?

Like, japanese helped me when i first started learning korean.. And now, having had a pretty good grasp of korean grammar and verb conjugation and such, i find that from where i had left off, the korean language is helping me to better understand the questions and resolving the confusion i have with the japanese language! Haha! God is indeed good!

Man! it's like a revelation to me haha! But i know for sure dat God has something wonderful in store for me in this area of my life. I dunno how or when or why? But from the get go 8 years ago, He kind of planned it all out la~ So yeah, i am gonna start going back to my japanese books, rekindle my passion and refresh my memories and start learning japanese side by side as i continue learning korean :)

Thank God i have lots of korean friends i can converse with online and in school. So dat helps :D But i also have 2 good japanese friends online with whom i can practise with haha!

Well, i am God's translator am i not? haha! Yeah God's translator, translator belonging to God~
