Timepieces For Eb Saxophone

Well apparently, this volume is pretty challenging and i think there are some grade 7 or 8 pieces in
there which like really challenges. Most of them are above grade 3 or 4, so yeah it's pretty fine actually.
Man, i was struggling with a particular piece for like wat.. 2 hours? trying hard to get a certain part
correct which had like semiquavers or 16th notes on the 2nd beat of 4/4 common time, and then on
the 3rd and 4th beats are semiquavers BUT in compund time so it's like 6 semiquavers in one beat of
time.. bloody heck really~

And then there's the occasional demisemiquaver which really is just 32nd notes... scary.. i couldnt
get pass the semiquavers on the 3rd and 4th beat of dat one particular measure. Sorta like F# E F#,
G F# G, A G A, B A B, C B C, all in compound time spannin two beats. But really, it is difficult to play it
smoothly and accurately while keeping to the metronome.. BLOODY DIFFICULT :) I can mentally hum
the rhythm in my head? but i cant get it out fast enough on the sax.. your fingers just like sorta fly
on and off the keys.. On drums, dat would be way easier~

Time To Jam

Well waddya know.. it's gonna be my first time jamming in a long long time man.. yeah.. and it's
with sax~ so it's like my debut jam session with sax~ Gonna be jamming with this guy called
Kalai and his band members~ Got to know him while i was getting sax stuff from Swee Lee music.
He has served me a few times and knew i was playing the sax so he invited me down to join his
band for a session. I think they have a guitarist, a drummer, which is Kalai himself, and a bassist
whom i heard is fantastic~ kinda semi pro sort u know? yeah bloody good~ which makes me
much more nervous :) it's a pretty small band which is cool and leaves things less complicated
musically wise. They are looking for a keyboardist too but dats not a priority for now i guess. Too
many melody or solo players makes for less room for more expression cause it's too full.

So these guys jam freestyle groove, funk sorta stuff which is really cool cos dat's the kinda band i'd
like to play in~ So hopefully, things go nice~ i aint the best sax player no way, and i think i'd keep
my fill-ins at a real minimal quantity~ sorta like blend in instead of stand out. I'm just afraid i'd screw
up a few notes... ok make dat many notes... yeah but they say go and jam bearing fun in mind, so
yeah, i'm just gonna have a good time and laugh at making a fool of myself~

Well, i find myself at a point in my music life where i ant moving much. Dat means, i'm stuck. Basically,
like i said, the only thing holding me back is sight-reading. i know a hell lot of ppl cant sight-read for
nuts but they can play decent music. I just shouldnt let this be my mind's burden. i keep dwelling on
it which is not good at all. But i cant seem to help it. I think i'm asking for too much in short amounts
of time. I'm impatient.. yeah.. i just needa understand dat such things dun happen overnite. My
impatience to see improvement can be a factor of this stagnation. I needa take things slow..
