New Links
Just added a few new links. In fact i cant exactly remember but one of them is a blogpage of my fren from US, Deborah. Another is Aaron Santee Sax Concepts. Also, i've got Nelson Rangell's official webby rite here!
Flute Section
I'm also starting to develop a different section for Flute and Piccolo, just directly below my sax links. If you're wondering why, dat's because i wanna do the flute after i've mastered the sax. Now i'm at like a damn long way to master the sax but once i've got the technique pat down and when i'm more or less proficient with the saxes dat i wanna play, tenor, soprano etc will i then dwelve into flute and piccolo study. piccolos are alot harder to play. it's harder to get a good intonation with the piccolo simply because it is much shorter than the flute. And the shorter the tube, the more drastic the change will be with just a slight change in air pressure, bore length, embouchure and wat not. i call the piccolo the sop sax of the flute family~
Why am i developing an interest to double up on flute? hm, blame the man up there. blame Nelson Rangell for making me view the flute in a different manner. I'm just amazed at how he does flute stuff and his technique is killer ultra fast strokes in 12/8 compound time. wah lau.. kowtow kowtow. And after watching Mel Watson of Australian folk rock band Fruit, play the flute in a really angsty emotional manner with lightnin technique and throat/diaphragm vibrato, to give a damn solid, aggressive effect, my perception of flute right now is like whoa..
Oh i just found something damn lame.. i realised dat poorly educated ppl in the language of English will mispronounce "Fruit" as "Flute". Hm... okie come let's go eat more Fluits, good for digestion. fluits fluits fluits, bloody hell, go do an american pie and stick a flute up your erm...
watever~... told u it was lame...
Back To The Sax
Anyway, this morning's lesson was the first of it's kind. I was actually told not to practise too much anymore.. HOLEY SAXOPHONY! reason being, i'm changing my setup. The mouthpiece more so. So i was told not to get too comfortable with the current mouthpiece lest i develop some habits with it. I cant wait for the beechler metal to come in man. Never blew a metal mouthpiece before. i think it should be QUITE fun :) imagine all the increased vibration.. gosh.. my teeth will shatter~..
Speakin bout mouthpieces, Boon Chye found a way to anchor the embouchure on the mouthpiece to produce a much more beautiful tone with NO intonation problems! he was nice enough to share his new found trick with me and made me try it and i was like wow, solid~ different sound! AMAZING! I heard him demo it on his sax and wow he sounded pretty damn good! And nay i wun talk bout it here online :P
I never knew all along dat there was a good music shop in my vicinity? I never knew for the 19 years of my life.. until today.
