Turning Night Into Day

I just got my Nelson Rangell Turning Night Into Day cd and boy.. i've only listened to the first 4 tracks and i've been blown away by the beautiful kind of music he plays.

In this album alone, there are so many different styles of music! this guy plays mainly modern style jazz in this album but he incorporates classical styles and slow ballad pop styles in it dat are so melodic and clean, it's just overflowing with goodness! out of the first 4 tracks, i am really impressed and amazed at the 3rd track entitled, 'The Journey'. Rangell plays piccolo on this track and he infuses jazz together with classical and pop styles and passages.

i'm typing even as the cd is playin and the 5th track's just over. and the 6th track 'Romantique' is playing now and yes it's somethin you'd wanna have played during a romantic outing~ and oh my god, flute on the 9th track 'April Snow' is BEAUTIFUL!!! you can imagine yourself in a winter wonderland baby! It's been such a long time since i ever heard such beautiful flute music! Oh my god, seems like it's snowin outside now! haha! gosh, the last track 'La Repuesta (The Answer)' takes a latino salsa, rhumba, marimba style approach on flute~ it's the first i've heard! and it's damn good! there's not one track in this whole cd which i do not like! normally, i disable those tracks i dislike on WMP, but all 12 tracks are exceptional!

i'm very impressed. His Sanborn influence can be heard in his playing but he has a slightly brighter sound. it's very much the style of music i wanna venture in and the kinda sound i'm striving for~ beautiful stuff :) this cd's like a mix of Sanborn style tunes + Kenny G style ballets and much more. very diverse, very versatile, in some aspects i think it's better than some of the Sanborn cds i have :)
