Angelia
Finally, yet another transcribed sax solo in the bag~ Angelia is one of the first few songs which
i've always wanted to play its solos even before i learnt sax but couldnt because of the high
altissimo notes. After having learnt altissimo, the solos became more attainable. I love this song
simply for one reason and dat is the emotion portrayed through the music. The lyrics also make
it very heartfelt? But the guitar and sax really bring out the emotional tug in this song and it's so
important for music to be emotional because it speaks to the heart. The song is driven along by
a solid straight 4/4 eight note bass groove. The synthesizer and rhythm guitar lay down the
melody.
Anyway, this song is in 4/4 common time and the following solos are laid out as such: 8 notes
are of cos counted as 1n 2n 3n 4n, while 16 notes are counted as 1ena 2ena 3ena 4ena.
For example, in a line like this:
A C E A E G | [1]n [2]n 3na 4
You play 'n' of 1, 'n' of 2, '3' 'n' 'a', '4'. Dont play anything in the []. They are just there to indicate
which 'e', 'n' or 'a' belongs to which beat. Solos are written for the alto saxophone. Transcribe
accordingly if you play piano or some other transposing instrument.
Angelia
Memories of you and me, tumble inside my head
The way that we used to be, the things that we said
No one has ever made me believe so strong
You left me to wonder how did our love go wrong
Angelia
Where you running to now
Angelia
Got to make you turn around
I lie awake at night, wait for the sun to shine
I still feel you next to me, your lips on mine
Without a warning you made our love a lie
You said you were sorry but you never told me why
Angelia
Where you running to now
Angelia
Got to make you turn around
Maybe my love is in vain, maybe you're the hurting kind
Can't take no more of this pain, I've got to get you off my mind
